Tue, March 20

Baby turns 6 weeks today! Big milestone in tummy terms... things should start to "settle". Praying hard for a little settling, last night was horrid again. Instead of her usual 7pm bedtime, only went down at 8pm. Slept well till midnight for a feed and at 2am started moaning and writhing in her sleep. Gave her dutch medicine behoedmiddel (day3), of which she only drank 10ml of the 50ml she should get. Went down 15min later and started moaning at 3am again.
There's something about watching your baby in pain, through the fuzz of exhaustion, you just lift yourself out of it, and apply whatever faculties it takes to help her through it.
So at 3am I got out of bed, picked her up from her cot (still writhing and asleep) threw her over my shoulder (no help) tried to rub out any winds (no help) tried to give her some more dutch medicine (she won't drink in her sleep) put her in on her tummy, elevated to 30 degrees, on her side, flat on the bed, over my lap (nothing) and then finally in her Moby wrap, on my chest facing outwards with me sitting bolt upright (complete calm and silence and still asleep). Now 4:30am, I put a airplane pillow around my neck and fall asleep upright. Till 5:15am when she wakes up moaning. This time she's awake so I feed her, she must be hungry, her last feed was 5hours ago. She's also had 8 hours of sleep, so there's no way she'll go back to sleep again, I don't even bother trying. So with my 3.5 hours of sleep on board, I settle down to play with her, and then, at 5:45am, another milestone....

My beautiful darling smiles at me with every little muscle in her sweet face, and just like that, I'm ready to face another day.  


Wed, March 21

Much better night last night. Think it may have something to do with being Nazi militant about burping. Or may be the 6 week settling they keep talking about. She moaned few times in her sleep but nothing a dummy couldn't pacify. And she effectively slept from her feed at 12 till 5am. Not bad for 6weeks. Best part was going to get her from the cot at 5am and finding her with the biggest smile in the world. Gees talk about textbook baby! Anyway, stopping all meds and seeing where this takes us. Chiropractor tomorrow anyway and homeopath on friday. Will keep u posted.
